Medication Prefills: In the State of Rhode Island medications, if not given by a family member or designated and trained person, can only be administered and pre-filled by a Registered Nurse. Certified nursing assistants are not licensed to pre-fill or administer medications. There are medication boxes that can be filled ahead of time but there are clients who are unable to fill their own medication box or draw up their own syringes of medication. If there is no family member close who can assume this responsibility, South County Quality Care is able to do this. It helps the client remain in their own home with this simple task taken care of. A Registered Nurse will come to the home, check the medications and pre-fill a med box or draw up the medication. The client can then take the medications during the week and maintain the independence they need. The nurse will also call in any prescription refills to the pharmacy and check with the physician's office on any new orders. The fee for this is reasonable and you can get more information by calling the office at 789-8443. |
